Sitting in the far southwest corner of Portugal is Monchique, a lovely old hill town flanked by two granite mountains, Foia and Picota. Monchique is famed for its mineral rich spring water, granite terraces, unbelievable biodiversity, cork and arbutus trees (sadly too much Eucalyptus), black Pork and its amazing honey.
This particular wildflower honey is made on the northside of the Foia mountain by a local small-scale, handsome beekeeper, Mario. a true artisan with the gentle soul of a beekeeper. This lovely raw mountain wildflower honey is a dark reddish colour, the strongest floral notes being Algarvian, Erica Heather and Broom, but it also contains many other wildflowers native to the area. It's a lovely aromatic, medium sweet honey perfect for everyday use. We only have a 100 kilos of this honey and then it will be gone.
This honey is not sold in shops nor available anywhere else.
